| Main topics | Instructor: Higuchi Takanari from Aikido Takemusu-kai Japanese culture is the culture of tatami (bamboo mats). This culture has given rise to tea ceremony where one enjoys a sip of tea, ikebana where one arranges flowers, and martial arts where one defends one’s body and refines one’s mind. In Aikido, one prepares one’s mind in a non-violent way. In this class, through the repeated practice of breathing and basic techniques, one could learn about how to use our bodies and minds and acquire the fundamentals of traditional aikido. Prior experience is not needed. 1. Explanation about Aikido 2. Basic breathing methods and meditation methods 3. Aikido techniques, handling of one’s body, responses 4. Polish breathing techniques 5.
