みなさん、こんにちは！ ニセロン・マエラと申します。
2025年8月末から、京都府国際センターで国際交流員として働かせていただくことになりました。
私はフランス生まれで、出身は北西部にあるブルターニュ州のレンヌという町です。ブルターニュ州は、美しい海岸線や碧い海で有名な場所です。もしかしたら、ブルターニュ発祥のそば粉で作られたガレットやクレープについて聞いたことがあるかもしれません。
私が日本に興味を持ったのは、叔父が日本人の女性と結婚したことがきっかけです。いとこたちに会うために、6歳のときに家族と一緒に初めて日本を訪れました。当時はまだ幼かったので、風景や訪れた場所はあまり覚えていませんが、そのときに感じたことは今でもはっきり覚えています。すべてが、もう一度見たい夢のように感じました。
偶然にも、家の近くの高校で日本語の授業を受けることができたので、14歳から日本語の勉強を始めました。翌年、高校を通じて「コリブリ」というプログラムに参加し、東京の高校で3週間の交流を体験しました。
この経験を経て、日本語の勉強を続けると同時に、日本の歴史や政治に関する授業を受けられるリヨン政治学院（Institut d'Études Politiques de Lyon）に進学しました。3年生の時には、同志社大学に留学する予定でしたが、コロナウイルスの影響で、授業はすべてオンラインとなってしまいました。時差の影響を軽減するために、日本の近くにある韓国やタイなどの国々を訪れながら、オンライン授業を受けることにしました。
これらの旅や、出会った友人たちとの交流を通じて、私は世界中のさまざまな文化を体験し、それらを深く理解したいという思いを強く持つようになりました。その後、京都にあるフランスのアーティスト・レジデンス「ヴィラ九条山」で6か月間のインターンシップを行い、「国際的な文化イベントのマネジメント」をテーマとした修士課程を修了しました。
このたび、国際交流員として再び京都に戻って来ることができ、大変光栄に思っております。日本への情熱と、異文化交流を深めたいという思いを、この仕事を通じて実現できることを嬉しく思います。私の仕事を通じて、さまざまな背景を持つ人々をつなぎ、たとえ小さなことでも、平和と相互理解を促進できればと願っています。そして、できれば、新しい友達もできたらいいなと思っています。よろしくお願いします！
Hello everyone! My name is Maëla Nisseron, and I have been working as a Coordinator for International Relations at the Kyoto Prefectural International Center since the end of August 2025.
I was born in France, more specifically in Rennes, the main city of the region of Brittany (Bretagne), located in the northwest of the country. Brittany is well known for its beautiful coastline and emerald-colored sea. You may have heard of buckwheat galettes and crepes, which originated in this region.
My interest in Japan began when I was a child, as my uncle married a Japanese woman. Because of that, I traveled to Japan for the first time with my family when I was six years old to visit my cousins. I was quite young at the time, so I don’t clearly remember the landscapes or the places we visited. However, I vividly remember how I felt during that trip—it all felt like a dream I wanted to relive.
Coincidentally, the high school closest to my home offered Japanese as an elective, so I started learning the language at the age of 14. The following year, I applied for the Colibri Program through my school and was able to participate in a three-week exchange at a high school in Tokyo.
That experience led me to apply to the Institute of Political Sciences in Lyon, where I was able to continue studying Japanese along with specialized classes on Japanese history and politics. I was supposed to spend my third year abroad in Japan, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, I had to attend all classes online. To minimize the time difference between Japan and France, I decided to travel to neighboring countries such as Thailand and South Korea while taking my classes remotely.
During those trips and through the people I met and the friendships I created, I realized how much I wanted to explore the diversity of cultures around the world and gain a deeper understanding of each of them. I completed my master’s degree in international cultural event management with a six-month internship at Villa Kujoyama, a French artists’ residence in Kyoto, in 2024.
It is truly an honor to return to Kyoto as a Coordinator for International Relations, combining my passion for Japan with my desire to foster cultural exchange. Through my work, I hope to help connect people from different backgrounds and, even if only in a small way, promote peace and mutual understanding while, why not, making new friends.
